IPL 2022 Auction: Over the last fourteen years, the Indian Premier League has generated numerous sibling stories. We’ve seen brotherhood morph into bitter rivalries when brothers get in each other’s way, from the Pathans to the Morkels to the Husseys.
It won’t be any different this time. There will be sibling rivalries at the auction, from Rahul Chahar and Deepak Chahar to Marco Jansen and Duan Jansen.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a list of 590 players that will be auctioned off during the IPL 2022 mammoth public sale on February 12 and 13.
While Hardik Pandya has already been chosen and will most likely have to reconnect with Krunal Pandya in Ahmedabad, the remaining five pairs of brothers may face bidding wars. InsideSport looks at the five brother-pairs who will be on the IPL Mega Public sale in 2022.
South African twins have also entered their names in the hat. Marco was signed for INR 20 lakhs by the Mumbai Indians in the previous auction.
The Agar brothers from Australia, Ashton, and Wes, have never played in the Indian Premier League. Have recently excelled in the Big Bash League. He has fixed himself a maximum base price of INR 2 crore. Wes is a 24-year-old pacer who earned a name for himself in the BBL for Adelaide Strikers. The starting bid for him will be INR 50 lakhs.
The Chahar brothers are the most likely to get the most money out of the five sibling duos that will be auctioned off. Deepak Chahar made his IPL debut for the former Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016.
He only made five appearances for Pune before joining Chennai Super Kings in 2018, and he hasn’t looked back since. He has 58 wickets to his name for the Yellow Army, and he recently demonstrated his batting brilliance during India’s series against South Africa.
Dwayne Bravo, a global superstar in this format of the game, has been released by Chennai Super Kings and will be auctioned off. In addition to CSK, the Caribbean all-rounder has also played for Gujarat Lions in this tournament.
Darren Bravo, unlike Dwayne Bravo, is better known for his longer-format abilities, however he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017. The 32-year-old only played one game for the Knights, in which he went undefeated with 6 runs. He has a base price of INR 75 lakhs.
The Baba twins, in addition to the Jansens, have registered for the mammoth auction. Baba Aparajith, a Chennai native, played with the Chennai Super Kings for five seasons but was never allowed to show off his skills.
Baba Indrajith, on the other hand, is a top-order batsman who can also keep wickets and bowl leg-spin if a frontline bowler is going for runs. Both players have a starting price of INR 20 lakhs.
