IPL 2022: CSK all set to retain MS Dhoni; KL Rahul likely to lead Lucknow franchise

IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings are the second-most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League. They are also one of the consistent teams in the cash-rich IPL.

The Super Kings decorated their trophy cabinet by winning as many as four accolades. They are just one trophy away from matching Mumbai Indians in terms of most titles won in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings came through with flying colours in the previous edition in the Gulf nation. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the finals to lift their fourth title under the tutelage of MS Dhoni.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has earlier informed that IPL franchises can retain only up to four players in the upcoming auction. Now, the franchises must be figuring out which players they should retain for the next season.

The IPL 2022 mega auction will be kick off somewhere between December 2021 and January 2022. The fifteenth edition of the IPL is expected to be played in its regular April-May window.

The upcoming mega auction is just over a month away from going all guns blazing. IPL Governing Council member is of the opinion that the mega auction will kick off in the first week of January 2022

As many as 10 teams will be in action from next season. Meanwhile, the BCCI has now asked all the eight actual IPL teams to finalise the list of retained players by December. The IPL 2022 mega auction is expected to start at 3:30 PM IST.

The four-time IPL champions will be looking forward to defending the title for the next season. Meanwhile, CSK will be looking to retain their talisman cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Now, as per recent report from Indian Express, CSK are all set to retain MS Dhoni. Moreover, there will also be no Right to Match (RTM) cards this time around. As a result, all the franchises will look to retain all the top four players.

On the other hand, Lokesh Rahul is expected to part ways with Punjab Kings for the next season. The report goes on to add saying that KL Rahul will lead the Lucknow franchise for the next season.
