IPL 2022: Daryl Mitchell’s Persistent Effort Receives Plaudits from Kumar Sangakkara

IPL 2022: New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell’s playing style and team participation were discussed by Kumar Sangakkara. The youngster was highly praised by the former Sri Lankan batter and Rajasthan Royals (RR) coach.

Sangakkara discussed the New Zealand player’s approach during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He actively participated in team meetings, took notes, and posed sincere questions.

The RR coach believes Mitchell carried himself well in the bio-bubble for more than two months. He also discussed the effort he expended during training sessions. This was despite not receiving much playing time, which Sangakara described as “high class”. Mitchell played in two games after being signed by RR for the 2022 IPL season.

“He carried his iPad to every team meeting, took notes, and asked questions. It wasn’t asking questions for the sake of asking questions, he was heavily involved. The way he carried himself, in a bio-bubble for over two months, the hard work he put in at the nets despite playing two matches, it was top-class,” Sangakkara said of Daryl.

England’s opening innings did not get off to the best start. Kiwi star pacer Trent Boult destroyed the top of the order with his excellent bowling. With only 17 runs scored, he dismissed the top three in less than seven overs. Later in the day, though, they started their innings.
