IPL 2022 LIVE: Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni shocked everyone when he announced that he would step down as the captain of the side and Ravindra Jadeja would take on Chennai’s captaincy.
Ravindra Jadeja was the second most eligible player for Chennai captain after MS Dhoni. Jadeja has been in Chennai for a very long time and knows about the management and working of the team. He could have led the team very well if things worked for him.
People had mixed reactions to this decision. Many thought that it was not a good decision and many thought it was a good decision as they had to find a replacement for Dhoni when he retires.
Many Cricket players had their opinion on this and gave us their statements. However, Chennai Super Kings had a terrible start to the season and they lost 4 matches in a row. They could not perform under Jadeja’s captaincy.

Due to the poor performance of Chennai Super Kings, Jadeja stepped down as Captain and handed over the Captaincy to Dhoni. Chennai Super Kings had their worst season so far, with only winning 4 games and finishing the league in 9th place.
Former Cricketer Ajay Jadeja had a say on this Captaincy issue, “Many players have come who have done well in batting and bowling, but there hasn’t been a leader like MS Dhoni.”
“That too, in this era, where there is an added pressure because of social media. It was a little unfair (for Ravindra Jadeja), but with Dhoni there, it was inevitable,” he added.
Dhoni to continue as captain in the next season
IPL 2022 LIVE: MS Dhoni announced on Tuesday that he will continue as the captain in the next edition of the IPL. Fans will hope that CSK forgets this terrible season and starts the next one on a good note.
According to Sehwag, “MS Dhoni has performed better this year as compared to last year, so he should be back for next season. We’ve seen what happens to the team when he’s not at the helm.”
“Ravindra Jadeja was the captain in the first half and that’s why they are in such a position on the table right now. Under Dhoni, they would somehow always manage to make it to the top four,” the former Cricketer concluded.
The Super Kings will come back stronger next year and will aim to equal the trophy count with their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians. Even Mumbai Indians had a terrible season and ended up at the last spot on the table.
They will also learn from their mistakes and bounce back stronger and will give tough competition to opponents.
