IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League. Rohit Sharma and Co have won as many as five titles, one more than their rivals Chennai Super Kings.
They didn’t bring out their improved performance in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. In fact, they had a chance to become the first team to win a hat-trick of titles in the tournament.
They won the title in IPL 2019 season by beating Chennai Super Kings in the final. In the subsequent season, they weren’t the favourites, given that they were known to win titles in odd seasons of the IPL.
However, they took everyone by surprise by beating Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 final. In a first, they won back-to-back titles and were poised to become the first team to bag a hat-trick of trophies under their belt.
Nevertheless, they let the chances slip away from their hands. They hardly made an impact in the previous season and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians finished outside the top four.
They finished fifth on the table with 7 wins and as many defeats. They narrowly missed out on making it to the playoffs. Much to their surprise, KKR who also won 7 wins and lost 7 games had a better Net Run Rate than MI.
IPL 2022: Slice signs 3-year contract with Mumbai Indians as the sponsor
As a result, they advanced to the playoffs and went on to reach the final. They lost to Chennai Super Kings in the peak clash. Meanwhile, MI will look to come up with a perfect blueprint to perform well in the upcoming season.
Case in point, Slice signed a three-year contract with Mumbai Indians as the primary sponsor. MI’s previous principal sponsor was DHL and now Slice have taken over them. Meanwhile, the MI players have been actively promoting the brand in the form of catchy tweets on Twitter.
As per the contract, the company’s logo will be sported on all Mumbai Indians’ official jerseys. Meanwhile, the most successful IPL captain Rohit Sharma hopes for a long and productive partnership with Slice.
“Hoping for a long and fruitful partnership”, said Mumbai Indians captain while speaking in a clip posted by the Mumbai Indians franchise on their official Twitter account. Mumbai Indians tagged the names of three players and posted the video along with the caption.
“It’s time to open the innings with our new principal sponsor @sliceit_ ? Paltan, let’s give a MI style welcome to the latest member of our #OneFamily ?#MumbaiIndians @ImRo45 @surya_14kumar @Jaspritbumrah93,” MI franchise tweeted.
