IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings have had a phenomenal last season recently. They were brilliant throughout the season and in the two phases of the tournament as well.
The MS Dhoni-led side came into the fourteenth edition of the IPL with not much momentum. They were not even regarded as the favourites for the playoffs. That was the situation for CSK.
It was primarily due to the fact that CSK had a very poor season during the 2020 season. The MS Dhoni-led side went on to see their worst ever season in the history of IPL. They went on to finish in the seventh position of the points table.
But the yellow army did a remarkable turnaround as they went on to win the IPL 2021. They did so by beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final at the Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. This was their fourth IPL title.
However, Chennai Super Kings management has gone on to quickly shift their focus for the future. The fifteenth edition of the IPL will see two new teams and hence there will be a mega auction in December or January. This will be the biggest mega auction ever in IPL history.
Moreover, all the teams have been allowed four retentions before the IPL mega auction. As a result of that, Chennai Super Kings have gone on to retain MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.
IPL 2022: Robin Uthappa claims CSK will first go for Suresh Raina
However, the CSK management had a very tough decision to make. They left out some of their core players like Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis. These players have been around for a very long time.
But Robin Uthappa has gone on to claim that CSK will first go for Suresh Raina in the mega auction. He said, “Suresh Raina is the biggest stalwart of CSK – so I think Raina will be the first player they will go in the auction”.
