IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are a dominant force in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They are a complete side and more importantly, they have been so historically speaking.
Moreover, MS Dhoni has captained the franchise for the whole time since CSK’s inception. From 2008 to 2021 (Present) MS Dhoni has been leading the ship with utmost perfection.
Chennai Super Kings recently won their fourth IPL title when they handed a crushing defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders. Moreover, their experience and skills worked in such favour that CSK won the match quite easily in the end.
This was also their ninth appearance in an IPL final which is the record number and more than any other team. Similarly, this was MS Dhoni’s tenth appearance in an IPL final which is more than any other captain.
However, the manner in which Chennai Super Kings won the trophy also speaks a lot about their character. The now four-time IPL champions were the first team to crash out of the IPL last season. The MS Dhoni-led team finished the seventh position during the thirteenth edition of the IPL.
Moreover, with the start of the fourteenth edition, everyone wrote off CSK including their fans. But the yellow army went on to perform in such a dominant fashion that it came back with the IPL trophy itself.
IPL 2022: CSK to retain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja
However, with the conclusion of the recent edition of the IPL, there are only around five months left for the fifteenth edition. Moreover, two new teams will make their way into the Premier League with the bidding process to start very soon.
Eventually, a mega auction will also be held in the coming months after the two new team’s formal inclusion. The majority of the players are set to go to the mega auction.
But a source from the Chennai Super Kings camp has confirmed that CSK will be retaining Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja. These are the primary picks of the Chennai Super Kings management.
The source said, “Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad are the two players who will be retained, come what may. Dhoni is seriously looking at the retention rules, and if it is three players, he could be the third. The ship needs its captain, and rest assured he will be back next year.”
However, according to certain reports, it is being said that each franchise will be allowed four retentions. And if that becomes a sure shot case then CSK could be in a dilemma regarding the fourth retention.
They will have to choose between Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Faf and Bravo. Moreover, such a situation could be disheartening to witness since all the above players are multi-talented in their area.
