IPL 2023: The ongoing season of the Indian Premier League went well for teams with new Captains namely Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Faf du Plessis. Meanwhile, the young experienced Captain Sanju Samson also benefitted from his side efforts and indeed the Captaincy season.
Well, for a fact, one common thing these teams had in common is perfect balance and consistency. But for other teams, things weren’t right for them. While some teams were setting their perfect balance, some were trying out new players. Such teams took time to settle down, but it took so long for them.
Whereas, the main common thing among teams who’ve failed this season was Captaincy. The irregularities and repetitive mistakes led to the downfall of these franchises.
Hence, considering every fact and flaw, some franchises would look forward to replacing their current Captains. With that being said, let’s take a look at them.
1. Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) finished sixth in the IPL 2022 league stage with seven wins and 7 losses. Punjab captain Mayank Agarwal’s poor performance on the bat was one of the main reasons for the team’s disappointing performance this season.
The player has only scored 196 points in 13 games, with a 16.33 scoring average and 122.50 batting percentage. To be precise, Mayank only had half a century to show under his name.
The newly made captain looked under pressure, as he failed to make the right captaincy decisions and maintain a team balance. For a fact, Agarwal has performed well as a batter, hence considering every factor the franchise will aim to make someone capable and potential as the new captain.
2. Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knights looked confident about winning the IPL title this season by registering their first big win against CSK in their very first game of the league. But confidence and stability didn’t remain for a quite long time in the squad as they start losing matches after.
The franchise finished seventh with only six wins and eight losses. On a personal level, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer hasn’t had a bad season. He scored 401 times in 14 games, averaging 30.85 points on 134.56 shooting.
As Shreyas has performed his best as a batsman, the team management would not want to affect his style and put any burden on him from the next season. Therefore, they might find some older experienced players to take the spot of Iyer.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)’s IPL 2022 event was the most bizarre of any team. They started with two losses, then won five games in a row, and then lost the rest games in a row. Hyderabad ended up in eighth place in the standings, with six wins and eight losses.
Kane Williamson, who was retained as captain this year, failed to inspire the team. The New Zealand captain played 13 games and has only made 216 runs, averaged 19.64 points, and had an extremely low 93.51 on-field percentage. With that being said, SRH will look to change Kane as their captain.
