IRE VS IND: Hardik Pandya Speaks Up On His Captaincy Against Ireland

BETADDA

IRE VS IND: Hardik Pandya, an Indian all-rounder, was recently selected captain for the forthcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland. Hardik Pandya focused on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after back concerns caused him to struggle in the T20 World Cup 2021.

And now he did not play any international series until the current South Africa series. After the T20 World Cup, he worked hard and was rewarded with the leadership of the new Gujarat Titans club for the IPL 2022 season.

He seized the opportunity to redeem himself and led his team to victory by leading from the front. His bowling talents were back to their finest, and he finished the season as the fourth-leading run-scorer, with 487 runs in 15 games at a 44.27 average. With scores of 31, 9, 31, and 46 in four T20Is against South Africa, he has earned the captaincy for the Ireland tour.

I knew going into this series that I would be heading the side after this series. Although I was aware of this, it is always an honor to lead your country. Who’d have guessed seven months ago? If you keep the right mindset and work hard, your life can change dramatically.

In terms of his bowling and finishing roles, Pandya stated that if he is needed as a sixth bowling option, he will arrive with one or two overs. He went on to say that he enjoys being the finisher and that it comes easy to him.

“It is obviously important, whenever my team requires, I will always be there to bowl a couple of overs. We play with six bowlers, it is important in T20 cricket that you have six bowling options.” Hardik Pandya.

He further added. “I have always enjoyed that role (finisher). Where I bat and what I do, you need to really enjoy the situation, for me, I kind of enjoy the challenge that comes with it because it is not easy to swing from ball one or ball two. For me, it comes naturally. I enjoy the challenge.”
