India has secured a 2-1 lead in the current ongoing series against Australia courtesy to their emphatic win in the MCG. The Pace bowlers of India have been the Key pioneers of India’s win. The fast bowlers have been absolutely outstanding in the past one year. The have demolished England, South Africa and Australia on their home ground. India has not got the series victories in these tours only because their batsmen apart from Virat Kohli,have not lived up to the expectation. India were in a position of series victories in all these series, due to the performances of their fast bowlers. Indian pace trio of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have been outstanding this year in Test cricket. This trio played a massive role in India’s Test wins against South Africa in Johannesburg, against England in Trent Bridge and against Australia in Adelaide and Melbourne.
This Trio equalled a a 34 years old record of most away Test wickets by a pace trio in a calendar year which was earlier created by legendary West Indies pacers Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, and Joel Garner.
The Trio took 130 wickets in Overseas Tests this Year. Bumrah took 48 wickets, Ishant Sharma scalped 37 and Shami took 45 wickets. Earlier this record was held by West Indies pace trio of Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding and Joel Garner also took 130 away wickets in Tests in 1984.
