The Chelsea winger has been linked with a move to Bundesliga in summer.
Chelsea right now are finding themselves more and more in trouble. The Blues look distant from finishing in top 4 this season. There has been rumors of Maurizio Sarri facing sack in the coming days. The club is yet to find director of football and face a transfer ban of 12 months. Then there’s Eden Hazard who looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge in summer due to all this. All this has come at a time when the contracts of David Luiz, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud are close to expiring. With Hudson-Odoi eyeing for a move in Bundesliga, Jadon Sancho has revealed what he told Hudson-Odoi about Bayern Munich move.
Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi has spoken to England team-mate Jadon Sancho about a move to Germany. The winger handed in a transfer request in January in a bid to force through a move to Bayern Munich but Chelsea rejected four bids from the Bundesliga giants. Hudson-Odoi has less than 18 months left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and is yet to start a Premier League game for the club, despite being called up into the England squad. The 19-year-old is close friends with Sancho and has watched on as the winger, who is one year his junior, has thrived at Dortmund. “Me and Callum are close friends,” said Sancho. “I have told him the Bundesliga is a nice league. I just told him to do whatever is best for him and whatever makes him feel comfortable.”
Sancho highly praised Hudson Odoi back in January. He said, “He’s the next one [off the conveyor belt of talent] I would say. He’s very good, very talented, fast and good dribbling skills.” Sancho and Odoi both have featured prominently in the side that reached the final of the 2017 Under-17 European Championship in Croatia. After scoring five goals and contributing five assists, Sancho was named Player of the Tournament by UEFA, while Hudson-Odoi made the Team of the Tournament after scoring three goals of his own.
Dortmund are believed to have joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Hudson-Odoi, opening up the possibility that the winger could become a club team-mate of Sancho. Sancho is a target for Manchester United but Dortmund are unlikely to sanction his sale this summer and know his value is only likely to increase further with another 12 months in Germany. Should Hudson-Odoi refuse to extend his contract in the summer, Chelsea may be forced to cash in on the winger. However, the club have a transfer ban hanging over them and at this moment in time would be unable to purchase a replacement, though Christian Pulisic arrives in the summer from Dortmund.
With Bayern’s interest unlikely to fade away, their chats must have given Hudson-Odoi plenty of food for thought. These two players are yet to hit their prime and both of them definitely hold an exciting future for the three lions.
