Jamaican sprinter lashes out at MS Dhoni captaincy after CSK lost to DC

All is not going well for MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings in the United Arab Emirates. Hopes of qualifying for the playoffs are starting to diminish now for CSK. Even though they had chances to pull off wins, they failed to capitalize on the opportunities in crucial situations.

Any other defeat in the upcoming games would make things really tough for the three-time IPL champions. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings lost to Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals in the recently-concluded IPL fixture in Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets with one ball to spare. Currently, the yellow army is sixth on the points table with 3 wins and 6 defeats. CSK will take on Rajasthan Royals in a must-win encounter at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.

Shikhar Dhawan scored a fantastic century for Delhi Capitals and played an important role in helping his team beat CSK. Apart from Dhawan, Axar Patel hogged the limelight with his superb batting performance. The game was stretched till the final over.

Delhi Capitals required 17 runs off the last over. Much to everyone’s surprise, MS Dhoni went ahead with Ravindra Jadeja to defend the target. However, Axar Patel held his nerves and calmly hit 21* off just 5 deliveries. Axar Patel hit three sixes and finished off the job.

His scintillating cameo helped Delhi Capitals chase down 180 runs with one ball to spare. Besides being good with the bat, he was superb with the ball as well.

He might not have taken any wicket but ended up as the most economical bowler for the team. The left-arm spinner conceded just 23 runs in his four-over spell.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni’s tactical decision left Yohan Blake absolutely livid. The Jamaican sprinter expected that MS Dhoni would go with Dwayne Bravo as he was the best option to bowl the last over. Yohan Blake added that MS Dhoni made the worst decision after a long time.

“I think Dhoni made the worst decision in a long while. That’s a poor decision to bowl Jadeja in the last part. We had Bravo. Really?” he said in a video.

MS Dhoni reveals why Dwayne Bravo didn’t bowl the final over

CSK captain made it very clear in the post-match presentation ceremony why Dwayne Bravo didn’t bowl the final over. Everyone expected Bravo to bowl the over, considering his experience. But MS Dhoni went with Ravindra Jadeja and the end result was not in their favor.

MS Dhoni clarified that Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was not fit a bowl and this was the reason why Jadeja had to bowl the final over. “Bravo was not fit, he went out and was really not able to come back. That was the reason we had to bowl (Jadeja).

The option was either Karn and Jaddu so I went ahead with Jaddu. Maybe not enough,” said the CSK captain.
