Jamie Carragher gives Premier League title advice ahead of Champions League clash against Barcelona!

Jurgen Klopp will have shuffle his squad as they look to clinch Premier League title.

With three matches to go, it’s still undecided that who will the lift the Premier League. Liverpool are currently at top of the table with 91 points and are two ahead of City. City have played a game less than Liverpool and could be on top of the table tomorrow with 92 points if they defeat Burnley.

City are out of the Champions League but Liverpool will travel to Nou Camp as they face Barcelona to book a spot in final of the Champions League for the second season running. With Firminho injured, Jurgen Klopp will have to rotate his squad to keep his side’s chances of winning the Premier League and Champions League. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has given title advice to Jurgen Klopp ahead of Barcelona clash.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has suggested Jurgen Klopp may need to revisit his priorities next week ahead of the Champions League clash with Barcelona. The Reds travel to Camp Nou on Wednesday for the first leg before welcoming the La Liga leaders Anfield six days later – with the matches falling either side of a Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League title are now out of their own hands after Manchester City’s victory over Manchester United in midweek, as the Reds require City to drop points in the last three matches if a 29-year wait for a league title is to come to an end.

While Liverpool will be desperate to take advantage of any slip that occurs, Carragherbelieves the Champions League may have to become the priority if City get past Burnley – as he clearly feels it would leave Pep Guardiola’s side on the brink of retaining their title.

“I definitely think on Monday/Tuesday he has a decision to make about the team he picks for Barcelona on the back of City’s result because yes the league is more important for Liverpool but the Champions League is huge,” said Carragher to Sky Sports.

“The Champions League is the biggest trophy in the world. The only it’s not the biggest for is Liverpool this season because Liverpool have gone so long without winning the title but any other club that made the last 16 of the Champions League would have rather won it. It was almost like the Porto game was an after-thought. But now you’re getting to the semi-finals, it’s Barcelona. If City are still in front, I think you then have to make a big decision because I don’t think you can play the same team three times in six days.”

“For me, I may be wrong, but I think something has to give at Newcastle and you have to make changes in that game.”

Author’s Take:

Jurgen Klopp would be waiting for City’s result tomorrow. If City lose or draw then Klopp would draw his attention to the Premier League given Liverpool’s point advantage. If City win, Klopp knows winning the title from then on would be difficult and virtually impossible and the chances of winning the Champions League will be more than the Premier League.
