Jesse Lingard is “loving playing football” at West Ham as he scored a brace on his debut

Manchester United are having a season which they didn’t expect. The poor form of other teams and better performance from their own side has benefited them to fight for the title this season. Currently Manchester United are at the 2nd spot on the Premier League table with 44 points in 22 games.

Manchester City still has a three-point lead at the top. It has been a season where all the teams have failed to find consistency. This is because of a packed schedule and regular injuries in the squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer foresighted this and had a big squad. He was sure that having a big squad will be of huge benefit to the team. Probably this is why Donny Van De Beek and Axel Telles were signed in the summer.

Fortunately for Solskjaer, he hasn’t faced a situation of injury with any of his key players. But this has forced many players to get very limited time on the pitch. Jesse Lingard was one of those players who failed to find a spot in the team.

Jesse Lingard on loan at West Ham

Last week, Lingard was allowed to move to West Ham United as a part of the loan deal which will expire at the end of the season. The loan deal does not have an option to make the move permanent.

Dream Debut for Jesse Lingard:

Jesse Lingard made his West Ham debut against high-flying Aston Villa. He scored a brace which aided Hammers to take the three vital points from the game.

Last season, Jesse Lingard scored only one goal, and that too at the last game of the season. But in only one game in West Ham shirt, he found the back of the net twice.

David Moyes started the 28-year-old midfielder at number 10 position, just behind Michail Antonio. You can see the highlight of his fantastic debut below.

“The team have been great with me, I have settled in fairly quickly and some familiar faces help. I was smiling before the game and during, I just enjoy playing football. ‘It has been a long time, I have come here to get game time and scored two goals but as I said, three points is the most important.” Jesse Lingard after his match-winning debut against Aston Villa.

This win has taken David Moyes’ side to the fifth spot with 38 points. They are just two points off fourth place where Liverpool is with 40 points. West Ham fans have not seen their club challenging for European spots for some season now. But recent performances have given them hope for an unlikely Europa League spot.

Tomáš Souček is proving to be one of the best summer signing this season. The robust defensive midfielder has already netted eight goals this season. The most non-penalty goals for a midfielder in this season’s Premier League.

The arrival of Jesse Lingard will add more quality to the West Ham squad. Lingard knows that this is his chance to shine. If he wants to impress Gareth Southgate for a spot in England team, he has to improve his goal contribution numbers.
