Jose Mourinho opens up on Bayern Munich speculation and whether he would manage Bundesliga!

The Portuguese manager has been out of work since December and has been linked with Bayern Munich.

Jose Mourinho has been out of work since his sacking from Manchester United. The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and PSG in recent times. Mourinho was TV pundit during the Asian Cup in January and is now looking to manager another big club. The Portuguese was recently linked with a move to Bundesliga and managerial position at Bundesliga. Jose Mourinho opened up on Bayern Munich speculation and whether he would manage Bundesliga.

Jose Mourinho has remained coy over whether he would accept an offer from Bayern Munich to return to management. The Portuguese has been out of work since leaving Manchester United in December.  And recent speculation has suggested he would be intrigued by the Bundesliga, a league he has never managed in before. But the 56-year-old refused to commit when quizzed on how he would respond if the German giants came calling.  Jose told Sport Bild, “I respect Niko Kovac as I respect many of my colleagues, so I cannot answer this. It is hard to believe that Bayern will squander the title now. This [Bayern dropping points to let Dortmund back in] will not be easy, because Bayern has the experience to control their fate.” The Bavarians were dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool but have clawed their way back into the Bundesliga title race and have a DFB Pokal semi-finals against Werder Bremen. Jose also talked up on
his relationship with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, claiming that he is an admirer of the Bundesliga title hopefuls.

Jose said: “I admire the work of BVB. Mr Watzke trusted me enough to ask for my opinion about a player and a coach I know well, I was honest, gave him my best possible rating. [Since then Watzke and Mourinho have] maintained respect for each other.” Jose also spoke on Bundesliga and how it intrigues him. The former Real Madrid coach said, “The Bundesliga provides an exciting competition to follow, especially with the teams in the middle of the table. They’re constantly improving and thereby creating a more level competition. Full stadiums, great organisation, good tactical approaches by many teams – I think the Bundesliga is really interesting.”

The Portuguese is currently without a job after being sacked by Manchester United following a disappointing 2018-19 campaign that saw the Red Devils struggling to keep pace with their top-four rivals. That has seen him express his desire to land a new job in the summer, insisting that he has already turned down “three or four” opportunities to return to the dugout.

Author’s Take:

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter have been mooted as potential next destinations for Mourinho, while he has already revealed that he “imagine myself” coaching in Ligue 1. With his latest comments on Bundesliga it remains to seen which club will Mourinho sign in coming time.
