Man Utd Boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to tie up a deal with Valencia star Jose Luis Gaya in the summer transfer window this summer.
The Spanish footballer, who plays as a left back for Valencia CF has been linked with the Red Devils and is believed to make a potential move to Old Trafford.
Gaya, who is under contract until 2020, has made 29 appearances this season, making four assists and he was linked with Arsenal last summer. Gaya’s release clause was revealed to be €50milllion last summer, but according to Plaza Deportiva, he could reportedly be available for €30 million next summer when his release clause drops.
Impressive performances by the 22 year old have seen him linked with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs. Reports claim that Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Valencia full-back and currently identified as one of his summer priorities to replace Matteo Darmian.
Matteo Darmian, who plays as a full-back for Manchester United and is extensively linked with with a move to Juventus and is more likely to make a move for Juventus this summer. Jose Mourinho finds Gaya best suitable replacement for the Italian.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea have also closely monitored Gaya in recent seasons but it’s understood that United are reportedly leading the charge. Jose Mourinho is in discussions with the youngster’s entourage for his move to England.
United are expected to focus on signing defenders and midfielders in the summer following the high-profile arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
Gaya has been a quite successful player for Valencia CF since breaking into the first-team back in 2012, grabbing interests of top European Clubs. Given many clubs who are eyeing for the youngster, it would be interesting to see if Mourinho succeeds in his strategy.
