Juventus earns a welcome victory against Bologna

Italian giants Juventus have registered a 3-0 victory over Bologna in their recent Serie-A fixture. Strikes from Filip Kostic, Arkadiusz Milik, and Dusan Vlahovic helped Juventus to get their first victory in a long time.

After a decade-long dominance, Juventus are currently not having the best of their times.

The Bianconeri made a very poor start to their Serie-A campaign. They won only two of their first seven matches. To put more context into it, Juventus did not register a single victory in the month of September. So they were hungry and desperately in need of a victory.

The only thing that was in Juve’s favour was that players like Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Sandro, Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli, Arkadiusz Milik, and Juan Cuadrado were back after their injuries and suspensions.

Juventus got a lead through Kostic

The Bianconeri gaffer Allegri decided to go with a 4-4-2 formation. Wojciech Szczesny was back in the goal. In front of him, the four-man Danillo, Bremer, Bonucci and Alex Sandro formed the four-man defense.

Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot were chosen to play in the base of the midfield. Filip Kostic and Weston McKennie played in the wings. Arkadiusz Milik and Dusan Vlahovic were played uptop.

Allegri’s counterpart Thiago Motta chose a 4-2-3-1 system. Charalampos Lukogiannis, Joaquin Sosa, Kevin Bonifazi and Lorenzo De Silvestri were in front of Lukasz Skorupski. Nicolas Dominguez and Jerdy Schouten completed the double pivot.

Nicola Sansone and Ricardo Orsolini were the chosen wingers while Roberto Soriano was played as a no.10. Meanwhile, Marko Aranautovic was given the duty to lead the forward line.

Juventus dominated the proceedings from the start. In the 13th minute of the game, Weston Mckennie got the first chance but his tame header was saved by Skorupski.

Mckennie then had another headed effort which again did no harm to Bologna. Finally, in the 24th minute, Kostic scored the opening goal of the match when Vlahovic played him through.

Juventus kept their pressure on Bologna through the rest of the half and both their forwards got one chance each. However, they failed to take them and the first half ended 1-0 in Juve’s favour.

Second Half

Then in the second, Bologna got an early chance when Bonucci failed to judge the bounce of the ball and let it get over his head. Fortunately for Juve, it was cleared by Alex Sandro.

then finally Juventus got their insurance goal from a counter-attack which resulted in Vlahovic heading past Skorupski. Soon after that, Juventus got the third goal through when Milik smashed a chance into the roof of the net.

Juventus then could have got more goals but they failed to do so. As a result, the Bianconeri got full points after a whole month and the match ended 3-0.
