Rising from the academy of Portuguese club Porto, Dalot made his professional debut for the club’s B team in 2017. After impressing with the reserve team, Dalot was soon given a chance to play for the main team of Porto.
He made only 8 appearances for Porto’s senior team before moving to English Premier League club Manchester United on a five-year deal in the summer of 2018. United reportedly paid a fee of £19 million for the services of the fullback.
Highly rated by Jose Mourinho who was in charge back then, Diogo Dalot was soon included in the first team setup. However, the young right-back failed to stamp his authority due to various injuries. He was making sporadic appearances for the Red Devils after the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Dalot then joined AC Milan on loan and spent one year in Italy.
Juventus generated interest in Diogo Dalot
According to a report from Football Italia, Serie-A outfit Juventus are interested to sign the Portuguese fullback Diogo Dalot from manchester United, next summer.
After a decade of dominance in the Serie-A, Juventus is currently going through a transition period. The Bianconeri finished fourth in their last two Serie-A season and have made a very poor start this time.
Juventus have won only two of their first seven Serie-A matches so far. They are clearly struggling and lost their first two Champions League outings against Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.
Juventus management now understands their team’s position very well. So to improve their condition, they want to sign multiple players and are looking at many free agents. Thus they found interest in Diogo Dalot.
After the arrival of Dutch manager Erik ten Hag, Diogo Dalot started to get more opportunities. He grabbed this chance with both hands and cemented his spot in the starting eleven.
Dalot’s contract with United is however ending at the of the season. And despite the Red Devils having a one-year extension option, they are yet to trigger it.
So looking at this opportunity, many clubs from Europe’s top five leagues are interested in signing the right-back. Apart from Juventus, Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Italian clubs like AC Milan and Roma are monitoring the situation. So a transfer battle for the right-back can be expected.
Juventus will face Bologna in their next outing and will hope to get back to the winning ways.
