A former Vasco da Gama academy graduate, Douglas Luiz made his senior debut for the Brazilian club in 2016. He soon established himself in the starting and started to showcase his talent.
At the age of 19, the midfielder moved to Europe and joined English premie2r League giants Manchester City. However, unfortunately, he failed to get a work permit in the Premier League and was sent on loan to City Group-owned Spanish club Girona.
He spent two seasons with Girona and then joined Aston Villa in England. This time around he got the work permit and Luiz soon established himself as a pivotal part of the Aston Villa squad. His consistency for Villa helped him to get into the Brazil national team. Douglas Luiz then won the Olympic gold medal in Tokyo with his national team.
Juventus want to sign Douglas Luiz
After a decade of dominance in Serie-A, Juventus are currently going through a transition. The Bianconeri finished fourth in the Serie-A on the last two occasions.
Even after making a few signings, Juventus had a very tough start to their ongoing season. The Bianconeri won only two of their first seven matches including a loss against new arrivals Monza.
Juventus have so far managed only ten points from the first seven matches and are now at eighth place in a closely contested Serie-A table. On top of that, they lost their first two Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.
Juventus management have now understood that they need to improve their squad with more arrival. So just like in the recent past, they are targeting quite a few free agents.
Now, in a recent report Italian outlet, Calciomercato said, the Bianconeri are targeting to bring Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz on next summer.
A very important player for Steven Gerrard, Douglas Luiz’s current contract with Aston Villa is all set to end within the next nine months. His performances in the recent past have been really good and the midfielder brings consistency with him.
Earlier, Arsenal tried to bring him to the Emirates during the previous summer transfer window. Villa rejected a late bid from the Gunners and stayed confident with their £40 million price tag.
It has been understood that Arsenal will once again try to get the midfielder in January. So if Juventus want to get his services, they will have to be quicker.
Apart from Arsenal, Luiz is linked with multiple other clubs like Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. But so far nothing concrete regarding these teams has developed.
Juventus will now play Bologna in their next match as Massimiliano Allegri’s team will try to get into the winnings ways.
