Juventus: Italian giants Juventus are keeping an eye on the tricky situation of Antoine Griezmann, as the Bianconeri have generated a recent interest in the French forward.
A former Real Sociedad academy graduate, Antoine Griezmann made his senior team debut with La Real in 2009. He then signed for Atletico Madrid in 2014. Upon signing for Atleti, Griezmann finally became one of the superstars in the football world. His brilliant performances with Atleti helped him to get into the French team. Griezmann then won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France in Russia
Finally the French forward joined Barcelona in 2019 when the Catalans paid his high huge release clause of €120 million to Atletico Madrid. Griezmann stayed two years with Barcelona but could never match the performances of his Atletico days.
Meanwhile, the Catalans got into economic turmoil and had trouble bearing Griezmann’s huge wages. So they decided to send the forward back on loan to Atletico for two years.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Serie-A giants Juventus is interested to bring France international Antoine Griezmann, next summer.
Griezmann went back to Atletico Madrid on a two-year loan deal last season but has been unsuccessful to replicate his past performances so far.
Now, Griezmann’s contract also has a clause of a €40 million mandatory buy option if he plays a certain amount of time throughout this period.
With Griezmann’s regressed performances the Colchoneros have no intention to pay that amount to Barca. So to evade that, they are only using Griezmann for the last 20-25 mins of every match, right now. The only time Griezmann got the start was when Atletico played their City rivals Real Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano.
Juventus is currently going through a transition period. After winning 9 consecutive Serie-A, the Bianconeri has failed to finish even in the top 3, in the last two seasons.
So they are now keeping an eye on multiple targets to improve their squad, and now it seems Griezmann is one of them.
Griezzmann will most likely return back to the Catalan giants at the end of the season where he will still have a year left. Barcelona has right now built a star-studded forward lineup and Griezmann is not in their plans. So if a suitable offer from Juventus arrives, the Catalans will not hesitate to sell the French forward.
Griezmann is right now with his national team France and featured in France’s last two matches against Denmark and Austria. He will hope to get more game time ahead of the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022.
