Serie-A giants Juventus are reportedly monitoring Italian keeper Guglielm Vicario who is currently playing for Italian side Empoli.
Gugliemo Vicario started his football journey at Bearzi. The goalkeeper then joined the youth setup of Udinese in 2013.
Vicario graduated from the Udiense academy and was loaned out to a lower-division club Fontanafredda. He played one season with the club and then signed for Serie-C side, Venezia, in 2015. He soon became a starter for Venezia and helped them to win Serie-C.
Vicario played four seasons for Venezia and then joined Cagliari on a five-year deal. The custodian however failed to seal his spot in the Cagliari team and was loaned out to Perugia. After his impressive season with the Serie-B side, he joined Empoli. His loan deal was finally converted into a permanent one at the start of this season. Vicario got his debut national team call up, earlier this year.
Juventus Monitoring Guglielmo Vicario

According to a report from La Nazione, Serie-A giants Juventus are exploring the possibility of signing Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.
Since joining Empoli, Vicario has risen to be their undisputed starter. Vicario has started for Empoli in all 12 matches in Serie-A. The Italian keeper is currently averaging 3.2 saves per game. He has kept 3 clean sheets so far.
The shot-stopper had a brilliant last season which established him as one of the best keepers in the league. He is currently 26 and has huge potential. As a result, many big teams are currently monitoring the Empoli custodian. Juventus have now entered that list.
The Bianconeri currently have Polish shot-stopper, Wojciech Szczesny, as their no.1 goalkeeper. Despite Juve’s poor form, Szczesny has been one of the best performers on the team so far.
He is however 32 years old and will be 34 when his contract with Juventus ends in 2024. So before that, Juventus want to groom another goalkeeper to be his successor. Hence they are looking at Gugliemo Vicario.
Now Vicario signed a new contract with Empoli at the start of this season. So Juventus will have to pay a lot of money if they want to land the shot-stopper at Turin.
Apart from Vicario, Juventus are also monitoring Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. the Georgian has been one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga in recent months. Similar to Vicario he is also young and is a very bright prospect.
Now Juventus have got a poor start to their Serie-A campaign. The Italian giants have only won six out of their first twelve matches. With twenty-two points, they are currently in the sixth position in the table. Massimiliano Allegri’s side will face Paris Saint-Germain in their next match.
