Juventus plot move for Man Utd star striker

Juventus are reportedly keeping a close eye on Romelu Lukaku and might make a move in the next summer transfer window.

The Belgian international had a great start at Manchester United, scoring 27 times in his debut season 2017-18. But since then, Lukaku’s form has been questionable as he has just scored 6 goals in 22 appearances in the current campaign of 2018-19.

Manchester United signed the striker from Everton for 75 million pounds and since then, he has been an integral part of the team. His presence on the pitch makes them look very dynamic in the offensive half. But he has been heavily criticized recently for his work rate on the pitch. Lukaku’s form is not a worry for the Bianconeri’s as they have been a long time admirer of the striker.

Juventus are searching for a long-term replacement of Mario Mandzukic and Lukaku could be in store to replace him next season. Mandzukic has been in great form for Juventus this season scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists. The Croatian international will be 33 next season and Juventus are looking at options to replace him.

The 79-time capped Belgian international has previously gone on the record saying that he would be open to a move to Juventus should an opportunity come up, giving the Serie A heavyweights an edge in their pursuit of the striker.

But Lukaku is not the only Manchester United player who is linked to Juventus, players like Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are also been linked to the Bianconeri’s. Lukaku is contracted to the Red Devils till the summer of 2022. But if he struggles with form in the second half of the season Manchester United may think of offloading him in the summer.

Author’s Take

There have been many speculations about Lukaku leaving Manchester United next summer but this could only take place if he continues to struggle with his form. Juventus, on the other hand, is looking for options to replace Mandzukic who is turning 33 next summer and could look for other options next term.
