Juventus transfer news: The Bianconeri have signed Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik on loan from Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Milik joins Old Lady on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy him on a permanent transfer. They can sign him for a fee of €7m, payable in three years, plus up to €2m in add-ons.
The 28-year-old’s signing will reinforce the Juventus attacking department as they look to win the Serie A title.
Milik’s Juventus move marks his return to Serie A and Italy, where has previously played for Napoli. The Polish striker underwent his Juventus medical in Turin yesterday.
Juventus news: Milik’s Marseille career
Milik joined Marseille from Napoli on an 18-month long deal with an obligation to buy him in 2021. The Poland international has since featured in 55 games for the Ligue 1 outfit and has scored an impressive 30 goals.
He made 37 appearances for Marseille last season and amassed 20 goals for the club. He had also made two appearances this season for Marseille before his move to Juventus.
Meanwhile, Juventus were linked with a number of strikers this summer transfer window. Among the players linked with Juventus was Alvaro Morata, who spent the last two seasons at the Old Lady.
Juventud did have the option to buy Morata on a permanent deal at the end of the loan spell, but they chose not to trigger it.
FC Barcelona striker Memphis Depay was also linked with Juventus. Depay could see his game time at Barcelona further reduce this summer following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. He was close to joining Juventus, but a move did not materialize. The reason reported is that Juventus did not give in to his salary demands.
Meanwhile, Juventus have started their new season with a win and a draw. They faced Sassuolo in their opening Serie A 22/23 season fixture and secured a 3-0 win. Summer signing Angel Di Maria scored a goal and Dusan Vlahovic bagged a brace in the game.
Juventus took Sampdoria in their next league game of the season. However, they could not score any goals as they shared points with Sampdoria after a goalless draw.
The Old Lady face Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in their next game in the Italian top-flight. Juventus host Roma at Allianz Stadium on August 27.
The match kicks off at 10:00 pm Indian Standard Time. Roma comes into the match having won their first two fixtures.
