Juventus Transfer News: Bianconeri Leading Race to Sign Memphis Depay

Juventus transfer news: The Serie A giants are the favourites to land Barcelona attacker Memphis Depay.

Depay is one of the best attackers of his generation. The Dutch international joined Blaugrana from Lyon during last summer’s transfer window.

He enjoyed a decent debut campaign at Camp Nou, scoring 12 goals in 28 league games. The Dutchman was the La Liga club’s top goalscorer in all competitions last term.

However, the arrival of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang in January, along with Robert Lewandowski and Raphina this summer, has moved him down the pecking order. He could look to move away from Camp Nou before the transfer deadline to secure regular first-team football next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are keen to sign Memphis Depay. They are discussing a two-year deal with the Dutchman’s lawyers.

Memphis will terminate his contract with the Blaugrana if he reaches an agreement with his new club. Tottenham was also linked with Depay in recent weeks. However, Romano has claimed that the English side is not in the race to sign the Dutchman.

Several Turkish clubs have also shown interest in signing the 28-year-old attacker but Depay wants to continue playing in top European leagues.

Juventus have enjoyed an excellent summer transfer window under the leadership of Massimiliano Allegri. If the transfer does go through, Depay will become Bianconeri’s fifth signing of the window after Paul Pogba, Angel di Maria, Andrea Cambiaso, and Gleison Bremer.

What will Memphis Depay bring to Allianz Stadium?

Valued at £31.5 million by TransferMarkt, Depay is a flamboyant attacker who is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line as well as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his pace and dribbling skills, along with his ability to score goals from a distance.

What’s next?

Juventus endured a disappointing 2021-22 season, finishing fourth in the league table. They will look to start the upcoming season on a winning note and will face Sassuolo for the opening game of the 2022-23 season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will kick start their La Liga season against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on August 14.
