Juventus Transfer News: The Serie A giants continue to be linked with a host of attacking forwards. The league starts in less than a week’s time and they are in urgent need to add some attackers. Their search has now led them back to the Premier League.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juve still remains keen on Anthony Martial. The Frenchman could still leave Manchester United in this transfer window. It is believed that if Cristiano Ronaldo stays at Old Trafford, then Martial will be allowed to leave.
He spent last season on loan at Sevilla as well. The former Monaco forward wages are proving to be a stumbling block. Martial is currently one of the top earners at Old Trafford.
While the Turin giants are not willing to put forward a similar financial package for him. This is large because he hasn’t been able to justify his high wages. Thus Juve remain a bit spektical.
Juventus Transfer News: Why does Juve need new forwards?
This year there have been quite a few departures from the Allianz Stadium. Giorgio Chiellini ended his seventeen years stay at the club. While Matthias De Ligt also left the club for Bayern Munich.
In the attacking department as well there have been quite some departures. The most prolific one was that of Paulo Dybala who joined AS Roma on a free transfer. Dejan Kulusevski left the club last season in January for Tottenham Hotspur. Federico Bernadeschi joined the MLS and Alvaro Morata’s loan spell ended.
Thus there is a vacancy for some new attackers in Turin. Although Angel Di Maria, Dusan Vlahović, and Paul Pogba have reinforced the club there is a need for more.
This is because Juve will be fighting on three fronts. The Serie A, Coppa Italia, and Champions League. Not only this Federico Chiesa has just returned from a long-term injury as well.
Potential alternatives for the Bianconeri
It is likely that Juve will be able to agree on a fee with the Red Devils for Martial. But his wages must be the tougher obstacle. Thus they will have to other alternatives for the Frenchman.
They have been heavily linked with Memphis Depay. The Dutchman is not wanted at Camp Nou. The Catalans are keen on his departure as they look to register their new players.
Not only this Depay offers an excellent alternative to Martial. He is capable of playing on both the wings and he has played as a striker as well. Something which the Frenchman is also capable of.
Also, considering the present circumstances, Depay is likely to cost less than Martial. On the economic front as well it would make more sense to sign him.
