Why does Juve want Pau Torres?
Apart from being seen as a replacement for De Ligt, there are other reasons why Juventus want him. For the past four years, he has been a reliable player at the back for them. Not only this he is still only 25 years and he is yet to hit his peak form as well.
On the physical side of things, he is not similar to the Dutchman but he is effective. In other words, he gets the job done like De Ligt. He is 6’3 in height which helps him in winning his ariel battles. The Spaniard is a modern-day centre-back. Torres’s biggest strength is passing abilities.

He is comfortable on the ball and he likes to play out from the back. Also, an underrated aspect of his game is his one-on-one defending. Last season he was only dribbled past per game 0.2 times. It is the same number as that De Ligt produced last season.
The likes of Manchester United and Manchester City have also shown interest in him. While it will be difficult for Juve to negotiate a deal for the Spaniard. The Yellow Submarines know they have a very talented player at their hands. They are unlikely to reduce their €50m on him.
