French National team manager, Didier Deschamps was under constant pressure from the French media to include French star, Karim Benzema in the French squad who is accused of having blackmailed Matheiu Valbuena over a sex tape.
The manager defended his decision to once again exclude Karim Benzema from the France squad to play the World Cup qualifiers in October.
The Les Tricolores manager was pressurized by the French media to recall Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, but the Los Blancos’ striker was once again omitted from the squad announced on Thursday. Benzema was also left out of the Euro 2016 squad which lost the final to Portugal this summer.
However, the 1998 World Cup winner has defended his decision of leaving out the renowned striker for the game against Bulgaria and Holland in October.
“I take decisions which I consider to be for the good of the national team,” Deschamps spoke to the French press this past Thursday.
The Real Madrid striker’s interval is due to allegations that he blackmailed French teammate Valbuena over a sex tape, which forced the French boss to leave out his star striker for the Euro 2016 campaign.
The court’s decision on 14th October will decide if Benzema is guilty or not.
The other French strikers selected for the World Cup qualifiers in October are Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann. Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Tigres UANL’s Andre-Pierre Gignac also make it to Deschamp’s squad.
