Keylor Navas Is Back For Real Madrid!

Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper, Keylor Navas is available to be selected for the first time this campaign against Las Palmas this weekend. The Costa Rican national will feature in his first game this campaign at the weekend, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed.

Keylor Navas, who last played for the Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League final in May, required surgery to recover from chronic tendinitis in his left foot.

“Keylor is back with us and in the squad,” the Frenchmen spoke to the press on Friday. “He is a key player for us.

“Kiko (Casilla) has done very well and I will talk to the two of them to see what we can organise (playing time).”

The Costa Rican goalkeeper missed Copa America as well as Real Madrid’s first five La Liga games. The keeper also missed Real Madrid’s first five league games and their only Champions League game this season against Sporting CP.

The Los Blancos, who are yet to be defeated this season are at the top of the table, even after drawing 1-1 against Villarreal at home. However, Zinedine Zidane’s men missed out on their 17th consecutive La Liga win, failing to break Pep Guardiola’s record at Barcelona.

Real Madrid will miss the services of Marcelo and Casemiro, who have joined Pepe on the sidelines, due to injuries sustained at the weekend.

Marcelo suffered from a calf muscle strain in the game against Villarreal while Casemiro has a fractured bone in his leg and was taken off during the same game.

“Losing two starters is a concern but we can’t do anything about it,” Zidane said. “We don’t have a player that plays like Casemiro. It will be different but it’s not a problem.

“We have a big squad and we will make changes.”

Defending La Liga Champions Barcelona, who are three points below Real Madrid, will miss the services of their star, Lionel Messi due to a groin injury he sustained in the game against Atletico in the midweek.

“Barca are worse off without Messi,” the Los Merengues manager commented. “Messi is Messi and we know what he brings to the team. It will be different.”
