KKR Spin Ace Sunil Narine Bowling Action Comes Under The Scanner

Kolkata Knight Riders’ spin ace Sunil Narine’s bowling action has once again come under scrutiny. The West Indian all rounder was found guilty of an illegal action as the umpires reported his action.

WHEN AND HOW

The KKR spinner spun his web in the 18th over of the match against Kings XI Punjab and helped his team win the contest by two runs. He was in superb form and just conceded two runs in the over.

It helped KKR turn the match on its head as they defended 164 runs successfully.

The KKR captain Dinesh Karthik led from the front as he scored 58 runs off 29 balls to help his side reach 164. Kings XI Punjab did well to almost chase down the target but fell short by two runs. Karthik was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal scored 74 and 58 respectively but could not get their sides over the lines, thanks to some very tight bowling from Narine and Prasidh Krishna.

However, the KKR camp was rocked by the news of Sunil Narine’s action getting reported amidst the ecstasy. This is not the first time the Caribbean bowler has been reported for his action though.

NOT THE FIRST TIME

Sunil Narine’s action has been reported several times since the start of his career. His action was reported for the first time during the Champions League in 2014. The umpires reported the West Indian bowler’s action twice during the tournament.

The bowler had to miss the 2015 World Cup to check and rectify his bowling action. However, his action once again got reported in the same year during the IPL.

As a result, the West Indian all-rounder had to face a suspension in November 2015. ICC imposed the ban on him that restricted him from participating in any tournament.

A HUGE BLOW

The KKR spinner is one of the key players for his team and his bowling is an asset that they will not want to miss out on. It will be a significant blow for the Knights, who have found their rhythm after a dismal start to IPL 2020.

However, the bowler is allowed to bowl in the tournament until the umpires give him an official warning. The KKR management are taking every step possible to rectify the bowling action of their spin wizard.

They will be hoping that Narine’s action is not deemed illegal as it will lead to a complete conundrum in the KKR camp.
