Kings XI Punjab are going through their worst phase of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. They lost to Delhi Capitals in their opening fixture in super over. KL Rahul-led team made a great comeback against RCB by beating them by 97 runs.
After a whopping victory against RCB, KXIP lost 5 games on the trot. Currently, they are languishing at the bottom of this season’s points table. They secured just two points from 7 games so far in their campaign. They lost six games and won just once.
Any defeat from now on will surely put them on the back foot. They will have to win the upcoming games in order to make it to the playoffs. Kings XI Punjab will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore today at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
Hilarious interaction between Kohli and KL Rahul
Ahead of the match between KXIP and RCB, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli had a great time on Instagram. Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul came up with a new suggestion for the IPL organizers. KXIP captain says Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers should be banned.
Yes, KL Rahul said this while having a light moment with India and RCB captain Virat Kohli on Instagram. Rahul jokingly said that IPL should ban Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers from the next edition of the IPL.
“To start off, I think I would ask IPL to ban you and AB for next year. ONce you have achieved a certain amount of runs, I think, the people should say ‘it’s enough’. Once you get 5,000 runs it’s enough, now you guys let the others do the work,” KXIP captain added.
It all started when RCB captain Virat Kohli asked KL Rahul about a crucial rule that he would like to be modified in the truncated version of the game. The captains of both teams, during a candid interaction for Puma Instagram involved in friendly banter.
Here’s the entire conversation
KL Rahul made it clear that he would like to see more than six runs awarded to batsmen who hit sixes over 100m. At the same time, Virat Kohli mocked KL Rahul to consult with his bowlers before coming up with this sort of suggestion.
KL Rahul: I think one rule that I can think of is, as a batter if someone hits a six over 100 meters, it should be given more runs, I think.
Virat Kohli: Ask your bowlers first.
KL Rahul Rahul: That’s why I said, as a batter, I would want that.
India and RCB captain also wants skippers to have the chance to review wide and waist-high full-toss decisions.
Virat Kohli: The question also has a part which asks me to suggest what rule I would want to suggest. I am going to speak as a captain, if I say yes to what you said, the bowlers are going to give me looks in the change room.
I am going to say as captain, I would like to have the ability to review a wide or a no-ball which could be a waist-high full-toss. We have seen historically how big these small things can be, in such a high-profile IPL and T20 cricket.
If you lose a game by a run and you’re not able to review that wide, it could make a huge difference even for the whole campaign. We had a similar experience last year, the first game. Margins do matter.
