Kylian Mbappe came into limelight in the year 2017. The Frenchman was playing for Ligue 1 side Monaco. Mbappe along with his young teammates managed to win the Ligue 1 despite PSG’s dominant presence. They also managed to reach the Champions League semi-final.

The next summer Mbappe joined PSG on loan with a compulsory obligation to buy next season. He is the second most expensive signing in world football at $165 million. However, at times he has been linked to Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Both Real Madrid and Liverpool have been hit hard by the financial crises caused by the coronavirus pandemic. According to The Express, Los Blancos are planning to make a big bid for Mbappe next season. They did not sign anyone this summer and they collected around $100 in sales.

Liverpool did spend big, late in the transfer window. They signed Thiago and Diogo Jota this season. If Jurgen Klopp’s side wants to compete with Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe they will have to sell either Mane or Salah. The sale of any two of these players will generate huge cash for the club.

Who could leave for Mbappe, Mohammed Salah or Sadio Mane ?

There is no iota of a doubt that both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are equally crucial to Liverpool. Mane guided the club towards Champions League qualification. While Salah took it to another level with his goalscoring exploits.

In other words, Mane was with the club in tougher times than Salah. Despite this, it is difficult to let anyone of them leave. Both of them are now 28 and they are now in their prime years. There has been interesting from clubs in both of them since they have joined Liverpool.

Salah has been previously linked with a move to Bernabeu. The Reds could use Madrid’s interest in him to raise funds for Mbappe. If Los Blancos sign the Egyptian then they won’t pursue Mbappe. Thus Liverpool can use the money from Salah’s sale to sign the Frenchman.

Sadio Mane was the talisman for the club when they were trying to break into the Champions League spots. The former Southampton star has previously received a lot of praise for his performances this season.

The bigger question, will all this happen?

The bigger question, will all this happen as Liverpool and Madrid want Mbappe

On paper, the plan suggested by The Express looks good but is highly unlikely to happen. If Real Madrid has the money they are more likely to sign Mbappe than Salah.

This does not imply that the Frenchman is a better player than the former Chelsea winger. Mbappe is still only 21 years old while Salah is 28 years old. In the long run, the latter represents better value for money. The Egyptians can give Real Madrid a maximum of six years with his peak form.

On the other hand, Mbappe can play at the top level for another twelve years. Both of them are likely to cost the same money to Los Vikings. Thus they are more likely to sign Mbappe over Salah.

Also in the current pandemic, Real Madrid can ask PSG to lower their price for the Frenchman. In the pre corona period, the Parisians would have demanded around $200 million for their priced asset.
