Frank Lampard might be back in the managing business soon enough. And if that is to happen, Lampard has set sight on bringing 2 Chelsea players along with him to his new club. According to reports, the former English player is the front runner for the managerial post at Crystal Palace.
One might not know this, but Chelsea were never Lampard’s only club. He started his career for West Ham’s Youth side. In fact, after getting promoted to the first team a year later, he played there for 6 years before moving to Chelsea. In his first season, he was on a 3-month loan spell with Swansea City.
His second season with the Hammers was cut short after he suffered a serious injury. But, since his recovery, he has been a regular for the team and even won a trophy. He had signed an extension with the club that would keep him till 2005.
But, due to some internal issues, he decided to leave and Chelsea bought him for £11 million in 2001. That was the start of his legacy. He went on to play 13 years with the Blues and went on to win as many trophies.

He was a part of the team that won back-to-back Premier League titles. Lampard grew so much in love that he decided to stay there forever. However, he deceived as in 2014, he left Chelsea in a controversial deal. He had joined MLS side New York City on a free transfer.
But a month later, the parent club, Manchester City announced his signing. It was later found out that he had agreed to join the Citizens. He did play for the MLS side a year later and announced his retirement in 2017 after playing 915 matches and scoring 274 goals.
Lampard to join his first club after Chelsea sacking?
Frank Lampard was appointed his first club after completing his coaching qualifications. He signed a 3-year contract with Derby County. In his first year itself, he tasted success as his side went on to play the Championship’s play-off finals.
Chelsea were looking for a manager in 2019. And after 1 year with Derby County, Lampard was appointed his old club’s manager. It was yet another brilliant start as he guided his side to 4th place in the Premier League. In his second season, he splashed £200 million on new signings despite the financially weak period.

Things were all looking great for him. However, it started falling apart. And after a continuous winless spell, he was sacked by Chelsea in January. Lampard had mentioned in his conference post-sacking that he will be spending some family time and developing himself for future roles.
Since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment, Chelsea has been enjoying an extraordinary turn of events. However, it has come at a few players’ expense. Tammy Abraham who was in great form under Lampard has failed to even make the bench so far. Billy Gilmour who was also introduced by him has been unable to break into Tuchel’s side.
Roy Hodgson has been doing a great job at Crystal Palace. But he has failed to guide the team to the top side of the table for 3 consecutive years. Also, Hodgson is thinking of retiring. So the club has been searching for his replacement for a while and reports suggest that Frank Lampard is the favorite to land the job.
And if this is to happen, Lampard will be bringing Abraham and Gilmour whose Chelsea careers don’t look promising. Crystal Palace are planning a £50 million transfer overhaul that would land four or five new signings and some high-profile loan deals.
