A-League club Melbourne City are close to signing young Tottenham Hotspur forward Shayon Harrison which would see the young Englishman play on Australia until the end of the current season.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Harrison has played only once for the Spurs senior team. He has also played for Yeovil Town in the fourth tier of English Football pyramid. The youngster made 14 appearances for the Yeovil based football club and scored a goal.
In 2018, he joined Southend United in League One on loan from the English Premier League club and made 13 goals but could not register a goal to his name.
The 6ft tall attacker will likely join Melbourne City and will look to earn much needed experience before return to the Spurs. Joyce, the 54 year old Englishman coaching the City Blues, have immense experience coaching in the United Kingdom. He has coached the likes of Manchester United Reserves, Wigan Athletic and Hull City, to name a few.
Meanwhile, Harrison will be looking to shine for Melbourne City in the A-League. The City Blues currently adorn the fourth place in the points table and are 10 points behind the league leaders Perth Glory.
The likely arrival of Shayon Harrison and the deadline day signing of
Jamie Maclaren will come as a relief for the English coach. The new signings will be eager to help their side and leave a mark in Australia.
The deal is a win-win for all the parties involved. By loaning out Shayon Harrison, Tottenham Hotspur can make sure that their academy product garners enough experience. For Harrison, this will be an immense experience while Melbourne City adds depth and option to their squad with these signing. Will Harrison star for Melbourne City in A-League, only time will tell.
