Leicester City have made a very poor start to their English Premier League campaign. They are yet to register a single win in the whole season.
The Foxes are currently struggling at the bottom of the table. They have lost their last six matches and gathered only one point till now. It is now their worst ever start since 1983.
This poor start has created huge pressure on their head coach Brendan Rodgers who has now finally spoken about it.
Leicester City News: Leicester Gaffer speaks
Leicester started the season with a 2-2 draw over Brentford. The Foxes then suffered losses against Arsenal and Southampton.
They won their first match of the season against EFL League Two side Stockport County in a penalty shootout in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
This tough win followed another hat-trick of losses against Chelsea, Manchester United, and Brighton. So coming into the Tottenham match there was huge pressure on the Foxes to deliver.
They made a good start to the match and took a lead in the seventh minute through Tielemans spot kick. However, soon after that, they succumbed to a humiliating 6-2 loss which is also their sixth successive defeat in the English Premier League.
After the match now there is a huge question about Rodgers’ future in Leicester.
When asked about the same Rodgers said to the media, “I’ll respect whatever the decision is.”
However, the coach still insisted that his team is “confident” and played decent “attacking football”.
Rodgers replaced Claudio Paul in 2019 and took over the managerial role in Leicester. In the next few seasons, he made Leicester a strong team and challenged for the top four spots.
Rodgers led Leicester to their first FA Cup title in the 2020-21 season. He then backed it with a Community Shield in the upcoming season.
Rodgers is currently going through the worst phase of his career.
Who can replace Rodgers?
According to the English outlet The Telegraph, Leicester is already looking at replacements for Brendan Rodgers. The Foxes are reportedly interested in Brentford boss Thomas Frank at this moment. However, they still don’t know if he will be willing to leave.
Meanwhile, Leicester have a long gap for the Internation window right now. They will take this time to decide Rodgers’ future and if they decide to sack him will have to pay a £10 million payoff to him.
