The Big Bash League 2018-19 has already seen some scintillating action with some premier cricketers from around the world showcasing their talent in the T20 league.
While there have been a plethora of impressive individual displays, there also have been a fair share of blunders from the players. On Tuesday, the game between Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes saw one of the weirdest dismissals so far in the league.
Batting first Hobart Hurricanes posted a staggering total of 185/2 on the board in their twenty overs. In reply, Melbourne Stars saw their batting collapse as they were bundled out for 126 runs losing the game by 59 runs. Tail-ender Liam Bowe was the last man to be dismissed in Stars’ chase and he was dismissed in comical fashion in the 18th over of the match.
Bowe was facing Jofra Archer in the 18th over when he decided to play a late cut on a delivery coming inside. He failed to anticipate the pace of the delivery and ended up slicing his stumps with his own bat. His weird dismissal created a laugh riot in the commentary room.
“He’s cut the stumps, he’s cut the zing bails,” said Damien Fleming in the commentary box. “There are late cuts, and then there are very late cuts,” he added.

Bowe was dismissed on a duck after facing a solitary delivery. Melbourne Stars never looked in control of the chase as none of their batsman except Seb Gotch (35) could manage to score freely against the Hurricane bowlers. Riley Meredith picked up a brilliant four-wicket haul to dismantle the Melbourne Stars line-up.
D’Arcy Short was the star of the victory for Hobart Hurricanes as he scored a quickfire 96 off 57 balls. His brilliant innings was laced with eight boundaries and four sixes. He was well supported by his opening partner Matthew Wade who scored a fine 41 off 38 deliveries.
