Barcelona Star Ousmane Dembele was never wanted by Lionel Messi and Premier League Giants Liverpool are to be blamed for the Frenchmen’s arrival.
Barcelona completed the signing of Ousmane Dembélé from Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of €105m, plus a potential €42m in add-ons, making the 20-year-old the third most expensive player in the history behind Neymar and Coutinho. The Frenchmen arrived in Barcelona to fill the void left by Neymar who swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.
However, despite his huge price tag, the 20-year-old has struggled with injuries preventing him from being a huge Camp Nou hit. Last month, Barcelona completed the signing of Philippe Coutinho after Liverpool allowed their star asset to leave Anfield.
Spanish publications Diario Gol are now reporting that Messi never wanted Ousmane Dembele at Camp Nou. The Spanish outlet also reports Messi’s treatment of Ousmane Dembele has not sat well with the Frenchmen. It is also reported that former Dortmund star feels that he is left out of Messi’s friend circle and is also “disgusted” at the lack of help he is receiving.
Diario Gol is saying that Premier League Giants Liverpool are to be blamed for this. Back in August, Liverpool asked Barcelona to resign from the hopes of signing Philippe Coutinho. Jurgen Klopp and co. were quite reluctant in negotiating with Catalans and continuously insisted that Coutinho isn’t going anywhere.

Liverpool’s reluctance in negotiating with Barcelona resulted in Catalans going for then Borussia Dortmund man Ousmane Dembele. But when Liverpool’s stance changed, Barcelona was again ready to go for Coutinho and they paid €160 Million to prise the Brazilian away from Anfield.
Diario Gol also claimed that the duo of Messi and Suarez have angered Dembele with their support of Philippe Coutinho. It is said that Coutinho spent most of his time with his former Liverpool teammate Suarez who happens to be spending most of his time with Messi and hence three of them form a trio.
In other words one can say that Suarez and Messi have found Coutinho to be the perfect substitute of Neymar Jr, both on the pitch and outside of it, leaving aside the one came to fill that role: Dembele. And all this has led to Barcelona being stuck with Dembele whose future at the club is growing increasingly uncertain.
And, with Coutinho in their squad, a move away could be on the cards when the transfer window opens in July. Barcelona is also looking forward to bolstering their attacking options at the end the season and Atletico Madrid hitman Antonie Griezmann is seen as Barcelona’s top target. But for Griezmann to arrive some players have to depart.
The arrival of Los Rojiblancos hitman may prove out to be the final nail in Dembele’s coffin. However, speaking about Barcelona’s next station in La Liga. Barcelona will pay a visit to SD Eibar’s Ipurua Municipal Stadium on Saturday with hopes of continuing their unbeaten run in the league.
All this could have a negative impact on Dembele’s future. The Frenchmen is still new to the club and in such times he surely needs someone to hang on with. This could also hamper his confidence and can also stop him from reaching his best at the club.
