Lionel Messi Can Return Back to Barcelona
The Argentine forward joined Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021. He had a slow start with the French club. Lionel Messi scored only six goals in his first season at the Ligue 1 which can be termed as poor from the great standards the Argentine forward has set for himself.
This time, however, he has got a great start. Messi has already scored 12 goals in all competitions for PSG. On top of that, he has dished out 14 assists. Overall, Messi is currently one of the most in-form players in the world.
Argentina forward is in the final few months of his contract. PSG will obviously want to give him a new deal. But if they fail to keep him, Messi will become a free agent at the end of this season.
And now journalist Veronica Buretti has reported that Lionel Messi will join his former club Barcelona at the start of the next season.
After losing Lionel Messi, Barcelona had a very tough season. The Blaugrana were even struggling to finish in the top four. Xavi came in the middle of the season and steadied their ship. they finished in the second position but failed to qualify for the knockouts of the UEFA Champions League.
They spent a lot of money in the transfer window and signed quite a few players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde. The summer signings soon adapted to their new club and Barcelona got a great start to their La Liga campaign.
The Catalan giants won twelve out of their fourteen matches. They gathered thirty-seven points and are at the top of La Liga. However, their performance in the UEFA Champions League has been quite opposite. Barcelona have been knocked out from the group stage for the second time in a row.
They now want to sign more quality players to get to their former glory. And the Argentine forward can obviously lead them back there. He still has quite a few years left in him and will probably like to have a better ending to his Barcelona career. So if the Catalans can sign him, it will be a dream come true moment for many Barcelona fans.
