Lionel Messi reveals the reason behind his worst performance this season

Barcelona star Lionel Messi wanted to leave the club in the previous summer and that is the reason his on-field action worsening.

Lionel Messi’s transfer saga during the previous summer transfer window is witnessed by the fans. In the end, he decided to stay with the club till this season. Whereas, his action on the field worsening day by day and affecting the club’s performance.

Now Barcelona stood in 5th position and it is the poorest performance since the last couple of years from the club. On the other hand, ace Lionel Messi also achieved the guiltiest stats since the previous 13 years of his football career.

Though he netted six times in 13 La Liga games and only 9 in a total of all tournaments. This looks good but the player of Lionel Messi’s feat needs to fulfill the expectations of the club. As he stood the top scorer of the La Liga last season by scoring more than 40 goals.

Therefore, looking at his performance this season it looks like the Argentine striker is not happy with himself. While talking in the interview with Spanish TV station La Sexta, he reveals his worst situation in the current season.

According to the report from Eurosports

Lionel Messi had a decrement in his on-field action because of his August 2020 mindset of leaving the club. The Player himself clears the reason behind his worst performance.

He said, “Everything that happened before the summer, how the season ended, then the burofax and everything else… I dragged everything into the start of the season a bit. Right now I’m feeling good and looking forward to fighting for every competition we have ahead.”

Furthermore, Lionel Messi goes on adding and told that nowadays he is feeling better but things that happened during the summer period about his transfer situation affected a lot on performance. Because it changes the mindset of the player.

In this season Lionel Messi reach another peak point and netted the 643rd goal for Barcelona. He equals the record of three times world cup winner Brazilian star Pele’s record of scoring most goals for the single club. Hence, he will surpass Pele in the upcoming matches.

Meanwhile concluding his statement he said,  “I know the club is in a difficult moment at institutional level and on the pitch and everything surrounding Barca right now is difficult, but I’m feeling excited.” It seems like his Messi desires to stay with the club till the end.

Will Messi extend his contract with Barcelona?

Besides this Lionel Messi’s contract extension is another question in the minds of Barcelona’s officials. Lionel Messi is going to finish his contract with the club at the end of this season. So he is free to negotiate with the other clubs from the January transfer window.

During the 2020 summer transfer window, Argentine wanted to reunite with Pep Guardiola’s side Manchester City. But the president didn’t allow him and Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned himself from president chair in October 2020. So about his existence with Barcelona will come to know after the election in January 2021.

Still, it is not confirmed about his contract extension with Barcelona, other clubs like PSG and Manchester City heavily linked with him. Henceforth, fans will confirm his future football career after the completion of Barcelona’s presidential election.
