Liverpool vs Manchester United ended up a 0-0 draw with both the side happy to sit back and defend, the game saw some resurgence from both side in the second half which saw couple of saves made but apart from it was colourless affair. For Manchester united they’ll consider it a point earned at Anfield for a side who is struggling on form while for Liverpool it may be considered as a missed opportunity. Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Emre Can and Phillipe Coutinho came the closest to scoring but the former made a bad miss on the other hand Can and Coutinho were denied by some exceptional De Gea ‘special’ saves.
Loris Karius – 6/10
Preferred choice over Simon Mignolet and was quite involved in the build up of play from Liverpool, but was tested on the lower side by the United attack, still room for improvement dealing with the crosses otherwise looks good.
Nathaniel Clyne – 6.5/10
In a game contested mainly by the defence department of both teams he was decent and had a few shots blocked and was lacking passing synergy with Sadio Mane.
Joel Matip -7/10
Set up the only decent chance in the box for Liverpool and probably in the game with a beautiful ball to Emre Can, solid defensively and dealt with Zlatan comfortably. Still learning and going by his performances his style of play will suit Liverpool.
Dejan Lovren -6.5/10
Not so absorbing game for him in the first half but was involved in the list of proceedings in the second, made some crucial interceptions in the second half and was good in the air against the likes of Pogba and Ibrahimovich.
James Milner – 7/10
Was constantly involved in heavy tackles and duels during the game, weary game for him and he did not exhibited his true quality, still feel he is doing a decent job as a left back and attacking play of Moreno might have been what this game required instead of Milner.
Jordan Henderson – 6/10
In a tight formation with United as compact as ever it was tough to make some passes and dictate the game as he does when he is at his best, overpowered by Pogba in the midfield on some occasions and had a quiet game.
Emre can – 7/10
Quiet in the first half but settled into the game as the time progressed, had one of the best chances of the game when he struck low to the right of De Gea from inside the box but the Spaniard was up to the challenge.
Philippe Coutinho – 7/10
Looked the liveliest player from either side on the ground, gave Rashford a good run for the money in terms of pace. Denied by De gea when he took his trademark drive from outside the box and should have done that more often in a game which offered rare attempts on goal.
Sadio Mane – 4.5/10
Didn’t look himself in the match and was way too complacent, gave away the possession almost every time he got the ball and had a good moment when Daley Blind slipped but eventually played the wrong pass, a game to forget for the former 30 million man.
Roberto Firmino – 6/10
They say you cannot expect what you can get from this player on a particular day but yesterday was especially not that day, took a bad touch in the box and Valencia tackled the ball away in what seemed to be a goal landing event. Moved into the centre forward position once Sturridge was withdrawn.
Daniel Sturridge – 5/10
Paul Pogba was criticized for having the least amount of touches he had in a game but what you will say about Sturridge then who managed only 22 touches before he was withdrawn around the half hour mark, it seems Klopp is losing patience with this player and he might be onto his way out of the club in January.
Alberto Moreno – 6/10 (86’)
Should have been introduced earlier in place of struggling Milner.
Divock Origi – NA (85’)
Had a little to do in the game.
Adam Lallana – 6/10 (59’)
Struggled to pass into the box and had an impact that lasted for a short time upon his arrival.
