Liverpool set to make £107m offer for Kai Havertz in the summer transfer window
In a club record-breaking move, Liverpool is preparing to make a £107m bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Havertz. Definitely a huge bid for a 20-year old, it is a bold move showing Liverpool’s determination to land Havertz. Liverpool ready to snatch player ahead of a lot of clubs who are interested in the player.
Havertz is considered as one of the hottest young prospects in current world football. Therefore, it is not really too hard to understand why the Jurgen Klopp side sees the golden boy as a priority signing.
The Wonderkid: Kai Havertz
Havertz made his debut as a 16-year-old for Bayer Leverkusen in 2016. Fast forward 4 years, the 20-year-old has already established himself amongst Europe’s top talents. Likewise, in that short period, Havertz has played over 100 games for Leverkusen and represented the German national side seven times.
Havertz is a first-team regular at Leverkusen. The German wonder kid was named in the 2019 Bundesliga Team of the Year following a remarkable 17 league goals. Already, Havertz has produced two goals and one assist in 14 Bundesliga games played thus far.
Widely loved by Leverkusen fans, 2020 marks Havertz’s tenth year in Leverkusen, being at the club since he was an 11-year old. However, the wonder kid recently admitted he would have to move soon to further his career.
Havertz Future & Liverpool AFCON trouble
In an interview with German publication Bild, Havertz said:-
“I am honest, at some point, the next step must come for me. But I’m not going to worry about when exactly that will happen…”.
Havertz already has a whole number of potential suitors, with reports of Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid showing interests. If Liverpool is to secure Havertz, the European Champion would have to smash world record bid. They paid a £75 million transfer fee as they made a record bid for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
Securing Havertz would be a huge boost for the Reds. Liverpool are looking to sign more players in the transfer windows preceding the upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations. The AFCON competition would see the Reds lose key players like Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah. Therefore, signing Havertz as early as possible would not be much of a bad idea.
Based on reports from Spain, Liverpool have already held discussions with Leverkusen representatives and therefore seem to have the upper hand in signing the wonderkid.
