The Reds eye move for Kai Havertz to add more impetus to their attack.
Liverpool are exploring goalscoring midfield options for the summer window. This time their rumoured target- Kai Havertz. The 20-year-old German international has impressed largely with his scoring and playmaking, netting 20 times in all competitions.
With plenty of midfield options already available, it is quite natural Klopp isn’t settling for the present and wants more depth and pace in his team. Havertz, already under the scanner of multiple European giants, is definitely a lad with a very bright future ahead
The recruitment staff believes the objective this summer is to stay ahead of the curve and ‘fix the roof while the sun is shining’.
Liverpool: Why Havertz?
The scousers have struggled to get a goalscoring midfielder for some time now. Though the front 3 are vicious enough, the German gaffer seems to need more attack in his eleven. Henderson and Fabinho have done a remarkable job in holding the midfield strongly, contract dilemma for Wijnaldum does raise questions. Keita is injured for a major time in the season, so is Chamberlain. Injury woes naturally limit Liverpool’s options in the middle of the park.
With Milner ageing, it’s obvious to look for alternatives. The 20-year old midfielder may be just the solution to Liverpool’s problems. He’s young, he’s fast and above all, he scores goals! The recruitment staff believes the objective this summer is to stay ahead of the curve and ‘fix the roof while the sun is shining’.
The problem in this case, however, is their budget for the signing. Bayern Leverkusen are seeking £80m for the youngster. The Reds, however, have a budget of £40m planned for his transfer. Ridiculous as it sounds, such an offer will hardly attract any interest from the German side.
If the European Champions really need him in their dugout, they have to dig their pockets deeper. Manchester United, Real Madrid and a host of big clubs are in the lookout for a promising youngster. Given the competition, bringing him in won’t be an easy task.
Havertz: Why Liverpool?
Klopp has a history of creating players, in fact, superstars. Be it Mkhitaryan at Dortmund, or Salah at Liverpool. Fabinho struggles initially, while now, he is one of the best midfielders in the world. This creates a very inspiring case for the young German to choose Liverpool over other European giants.
Real Madrid and Manchester United being the other two are great options as well. But, looking at Jovic, the last Real Madrid signing from Bundesliga, obvious doubts arise. That leaves Manchester United. Well, the club has a legacy of shining youngsters, but does the present condition of the club inspire him to get into Old Trafford?
Hardly so. Therefore, if he aims trophies and organic development, Liverpool is an appropriate destination. Provided, the club tables a ‘suitable’ deal, the transfer will suit both Liverpool and the player.
