Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is keen on signing Napoli hitman Lorenzo Insigne in the January transfer window after his incredible start to the new season.
Liverpool is currently in third place in the Premier League but joint top on points with Manchester City and Chelsea. However, with misfiring forwards this season, the Reds aren’t looking at their brutal best in their attack. Brazilian superstar Roberto Firmino is seemingly fatigued with the number of games that he plays while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have found it unable to net on a consistent basis over the past month.
Klopp is now looking to stretch out his attacking options even further this January transfer window in order to compete for the Premier League title as Insigne is on the German boss’ radar.
Inside News-
According to Rui Sport, Liverpool will rival their Premier League counterparts Chelsea for the signature of Insigne. The Blues boss Maurizio Sarri wanted to bring Insigne to Stamford Bridge in the summer window but a move failed to take place. However, the master tactician will try his luck again in the January window only this time he will have some competition to fend off from Liverpool.
During Napoli’s Champions League encounter against Liverpool in the Stadio San Paolo, Insigne grabbed headlines for scoring the last minute winner. And Klopp had a close-up view of the hard-working forward and was very impressed by the 27-year-old. Sarri recently admitted that 27 year old is the best player in the Serie A sparking rumors that Chelsea could make a move for him mid-way through the season.
Author’s Take-
I highly doubt that Insigne will make a move away from Napoli in the January transfer window as he is an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Liverpool and Chelsea may have to wait until the end of the summer to try and lure 27 year old away from the Partenopei.
