Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has revealed that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will manage Manchester United in the summer of 2019.
Liverpool delivered the final nail in the coffin for Jose Mourinho’s tenure as Manchester United manager after the Merseyside club humiliated their visitors 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday. The Portuguese boss got the sack from the Manchester United board just two days after the defeat and had quite unsurprisingly left Carrington on Tuesday.
That was the big news this week but United fans all across the globe were eager to know who would fill in the void for the departed Mourinho. Recent reports confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would take over the reins until the end of this season and then a permanent decision will be made after that.
But ex-England international Jamie Redknapp already knows that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will become the next Manchester United boss.
While speaking to Sky Sports as a pundit the 46-year-old Englishman stated that United will lure Pochettino to Old Trafford and Tottenham fans should be worried about it,
“I think Manchester United will get him. I think they will go for it and I think they will get him. Of course [Spurs fans should be worried] because he’s the special one, he’s a great manager that everyone would want at their club. Tottenham have got to do everything in their power to keep him, it’s as simple as that. He’s a very talented manager, the players adore him and play for him and you can see why Manchester United would want him.”
Pochettino has got Spurs playing Champions League football and at a very high level as well. But the Argentine boss is yet to win a major trophy in his career.
It could be possible that Pochettino could manage Manchester United because he has the experience of managing in the Premier League and has a habit of giving youngsters an opportunity, a tradition that Manchester United also follow.
