If the Senegalese forward moves to Spain then Liverpool will move for the Ligue 1 player.
Ever since the return of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid boss, all the elite clubs across Europe are keen to keep hold of their star players. The likes of PSG, Chelsea are already negotiating with their star players.
With the likes of Sadio Mane, Adrien Rabiot, Paul Pogba and Miralem Pjanic constantly linked with Zidane, it seems it will be an exciting summer for Real Madrid fans. It seems Liverpool are already preparing for life after Sadio Mane. The Reds are targeting this former Manchester United player as his replacement.
Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Memphis Depay ahead of a summer move. Depay, 25, endured a nightmare spell at Manchester United between 2015-2017 though he’s resurrected his career in France with Lyon. Last season, he chipped in with 22 goals across all competitions.
He’s bagged eight goals this term with clubs around Europe monitoring his development. One of his suitors appears to be Liverpool. According to Mirror, the Reds want Depay as a replacement for Sadio Mane should he leave for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.Real Madrid are planning a major summer overhaul with Mane a reported target for Zinedine Zidane.
If a move transpires, Liverpool will look to sign Depay. The report claims he’ll cost in the region of £50 million.Liverpool have no intention of selling Mane but a concrete offer could spice things up.Mane’s enjoying a prolific season for Liverpool. He’s weighed in with an impressive 20 goals in all competitions including 17 goals in the Premier League.
That hot form has led Zidane is determined to resurrect a deal for Sadio Mane – who he was close to signing at the end of his first stint as Real Madrid manager. The French coach has returned to the dugout at the Santiago Bernabeu and is preparing to overhaul an ageing squad in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool forward Mane was expected to seal a move to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2018, with Zidane desperate to make the 26-year-old his first signing, however, the manager’s sudden departure saw the deal scrapped. Incoming Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui decided to pursue other targets and Mane remained at Anfield.
Depay was reluctantly sold by Mourinho just over two years ago and the 25-year-old has gradually rebuilt his reputation in France. United inserted a buy-back clause in Depay’s contract but it is unlikely Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will explore that potential option this summer with his transfer priorities lying in defence and central midfield.
Considering his previous stint at Premier League there will be doubts and eye brows raised if Liverpool decide to pursue Depay. Having that said Depay’s potential will only go up in the coming years. Depay harbours ambition of playing for a big club and Liverpool would certainly fit the bill.
