Arsenal are still on the lookout to land a couple more stars. Liverpool can be an example for Arsenal on how to approach transfers.
Mikel Arteta is focusing on rebuilding Arsenal since he took charge. The Spaniard has been able to improve their game. If we consider the statistics from December, the Gunners seem to be going up the graph. Arteta has been able to work well with his squad lately. But the Spaniard is keen to add more strength to his lineup.
Arsenal has been undergoing financial troubles for several years now. This has been holding them back in transfer windows as well. Reflecting on bad performances on the field too. But the Gunners can learn a thing or two from defending champions, Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has been great at signing the stars they need. But they do it in a way that they can land ideal recruits for a reasonable fee. The latest rumors also suggest the same. The Reds have made the announcement of their new arrival Thiago Alcantara.
Daily Mail reports Liverpool will pay a fee of £25m for the midfield ace. Thiago will land in Liverpool’s training ground soon to finish the proceedings.
The Merseyside club is able to solve a long-term problem with his arrival. But the highlight of the deal is the transfer fee. They are able to land a player like Thiago for a very reasonable price. The Spaniard has just won the Champions League and will be a great addition to Klopp’s squad.
Arsenal did target Thiago
The North London side was among the first ones to eye Thiago. But Liverpool seems to have made the swoop for a cut fee. The Gunners can hence learn a thing or two from the Reds. Liverpool has not spent big over the years aside from Allison and Virgil Van Dijk. The duo are the most valuable signing they have made.
Most of the other signings are bought at an affordable price. Who then becomes an integral part of the squad. Liverpool also makes it a priority to offload stars who are not of use to their future. This makes the process in the market much more smooth. Whereas, Arsenal don’t have such a smooth strategy of player sales.
Liverpool was also able to sell Lovren and Lallana this window. The reds got a collective of £29m from the sales of the duo alone. And the Merseyside club is ready to sign a new player for £25m. These are some great business tactics we see from Liverpool.
Arsenal on the other hand doesn’t have such a smooth system. Mikel Arteta has been keen to land stars for various positions. The Gunners are still searching the market to land players for an ideal fee. But they will need to sell a couple of stars to fund new arrivals. Though Arsenal is not having a smooth system like Liverpool. They look to have begun the process to make things better at the club.
Edu and Arteta are working together
Arsenal chief Edu has been making a new blueprint for their transfer strategies. The Gunners were able to sign some a couple of new stars lately. Arteta was keen to bring in a new central defender and Gabriel Magalhaes came in. The defender was the ideal option in Arteta’s mind and Arsenal was able to bring him in.
Likewise, the gaffer wanted some experience up at the right-wing. And was able to sign Willian on a free transfer. The Brazilian has proven to be a fruitful signing in his first game itself. Arsenal was also able to ship their second keeper Martinez for a £20m fee. This will help Arteta to continue his pursuit to sign a midfield option.
Thomas Partey and Houssam Aouar have been on his list for a while now. The funds from the sale of Martinez will see that they can land either of the duos. Arsenal may not have a smooth transfer strategy like Liverpool. But Edu and Mikel are working to make things better for the North London side. Arteta was able to start Arsenal’s season with a win. If they keep this form on they can finish among the top-four this term.
