Liverpool news: The Reds moved to sign Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus on the transfer deadline day.
Manager Jurgen Klopp revealed late in August that Liverpool was looking to reinforce their midfield department with a new signing. Klopp had earlier suggested Liverpool did not need to recruit players to the midfield in the summer.
The Merseyside outfit have midfielder Thiago, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain currently sidelined with injuries. They also saw Jordan Henderson sustain an injury in their recent game – worsening their midfield crisis.
The Reds signed Arthur on a loan deal which also includes the option to sign him on a permanent deal next summer.
Liverpool news: Arthur on joining the Reds
“I’m really, really happy to be here wearing this great shirt with this famous badge that represents so much in world football, it’s a dream,” Arthur told Liverpoolfc.com, expressing his delight at joining Liverpool.
“We talked a lot, and our ideas and visions were a good fit so I’m sure it was the right choice. I’m really happy and highly motivated to continue living my dream on the pitch and giving my all in a Liverpool shirt.”
Arthur had fallen down the pecking order at Juventus and will be looking to establish himself as a regular at Liverpool. The Brazilian midfielder joined Juventus from Barcelona in June 2020, signing a five-year contract with the Old Lady.
Arthur has since made 63 matches for the Serie A giants. He made 32 appearances for Juventus in his first season with the Italian club. He featured in another 31 matches for Juventus last season.

Liverpool have since secured two consecutive victories. They thrashed – and absolutely ran riot against – Bournemouth, registering a 9-0 win. Liverpool then sealed another victory, defeating Newcastle United 2-1 in their next game.
