Liverpool news: The Reds have endured a difficult start to the current Premier League season.
They have managed to win just two of their opening seven league games this term. The Merseysiders have already slipped 11 points behind leaders Arsenal in the league table after just seven games into the season.
Midfield has been one of the biggest areas of concern for Jurgen Klopp this term. Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones, Fabio Carvalho, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all suffered injuries during the opening weeks of the season.
The German manager will look to bring in fresh faces to the midfield during the upcoming transfer window.

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has urged his former club to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison. Enrique believes Maddison could be the answer to the Reds’ midfield woes.
He posted on his Twitter account heaping praise on the England international. He tweeted: “He will have been the perfect number 8 for us in the summer. What a player.”
Despite Leicester City’s struggles, James Maddison has been in brilliant form this season. He has registered five goals and two assists in seven Premier League game this season. The former Norwich City midfielder is in contention to make it to England’s final squad for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, Enrique spent five seasons at Liverpool between 2011 and 2016. He played 76 league games during his time at Anfield, scoring two goals. Enrique was part of the Reds squad that lifted the Football League Cup in 2011-12.
Paul Merson slams Liverpool for selling Sadio Mane
The Reds sold Sadio Mane for £35 million to Bayern Munich during the recently concluded transfer window.
Forward England attacker has criticised the Merseyside outfit for letting the Senegal international leave the club. In his SkySports column, he said: ‘I’ve said it from day one, in my opinion selling Sadio Mane was the worst business ever. The bloke scores big, big goals.
Go through them, first goals, equalizers, winning goals in the last minutes, big goals. He led from the front with his closing down, and for me, what they sold him for, I just didn’t get it.

Mane spent six seasons at Anfield between 2016 and 2022. He played 196 Premier League games for the Reds, scoring 90 goals. The Senegal international has helped the English club claim six major trophies, including one Premier League title and one UEFA Champions trophy.
