Recently Chelsea owner Todd Boehly who also owns Major League Baseball side Los Angles Dodgers said something interesting.

While speaking at the Salt conference, Bohely proposed English football to follow American sports and introduce new things to generate more funds.

Boehly said, “People are talking about why don’t we have more money for the pyramid? MLB did their all star game this year.”

He further added, “They made $200m from a Monday and a Tuesday, you could do a North vs South all-star game from the Premier League to fund the pyramid very easily.”

If such a game in England occurs, we will see a unique team where Liverpool, Manchester United, and City supporters are going against a team of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham which the fans of these respective clubs will probably not like entertain.

Similar to the supporters, Klopp also doesn’t entertain this particular suggestion from the new Chelsea owner.

Modern football especially the top leagues of Europe have stagnant fixtures. On top of that, players represent their national teams during the gaps. So there’s no way any top manager will want to have another friendly match just to generate some funds. Even players will not feature in another match because of this heavy workload.

While confirming the same Klopp added, “Great. When he finds a date for that, he can call me… Does he want to bring the Harlem Globetrotters and let them play against a football team?”

The Chelsea owner didn’t stop there. He further suggested a relegation tournament that will include the bottom four teams.

Boehly though did not want a tournament like Super League and thinks the Champions League is enough for that purpose.
