He has been sensational since joining Paris St. Germain from AS Monaco in 2017. He has made 142 appearances for the Paris-based club, scoring 119 goals.
Mbappe helped them win over 10 major trophies, including four Ligue 1 titles. He won the Ligue 1 Player of the Season three times and was also included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year on five different occasions. The France international also won the Golden Boy accolade in 2017.
However, there has been a lot of speculation about his future in recent months. His current contract at the Parc des Princes will expire at the end of the current season. He looked close to joining Real Madrid but PSG managed to negotiate a new contract at the last moment, extending his stay at the club.
Liverpool news: Kylian Mbappe opens up about the Reds’ interest
The Reds were among the clubs that have shown interest in signing Kylian Mbappe in recent weeks. The France international revealed that he held talks with the Reds over a potential move.
He said (via Telegraph): “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool.
I don’t know why, you will have to ask her. ‘t’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”
The Reds have established themselves among the top European clubs after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp. They have lifted one Premier League and one UEFA Champions League trophies in the last three years. They used their success and brand to attract some of the most considerable talents during the recent transfer window.
Fabio Carvalho joins the Reds
Liverpool confirmed the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham on Monday. He will join the Reds on a Bosman deal on July 1. The youngster will sign a five-year deal with the Merseysiders, which will keep him at Anfield till 2027.
The Portugal youth international enjoyed a stellar campaign with Fulham in the EFL Championship. He played 36 league games during the recently concluded season, scoring 10 and assisting six goals.
Carvalho won the Young Player of the Month award in August 2021 and was also nominated for the EFL Championship Young Player of the Season 2021-22 accolade.
