As per reports from the Daily Mail, Gavi’s contract with Barcelona ends in 2023. The club has set a £42 million release clause for their academy graduate and Liverpool is looking to cash in on him.
Gavi as a player has come through La Masia’s ranks and from the player’s perspective, a move away from the club seems far-fetched. Although, his agent seems to think otherwise.
There are some clashes going on between Gavi’s agent and Barcelona. The midfielder was expected to sign a new contract but Gavi’s camp is not happy with the terms being offered.
That is where Liverpool can cash in. If Barcelona goes for a big-money signing they’ll be short on cash. Also, should Gavi feel his role isn’t important enough at the club he can decide to make the switch.

Simply put it has been a sensational season for the young Spaniard. He has made 43 appearances for Barcelona in the entire campaign with 2 goals and 6 assists to his name.
Although, the numbers aren’t that great but his aggressiveness on the pitch is evident. His time with Barcelona has even earned him a Spanish senior team cap under Luis Enrique.
Gavi has no intentions of leaving and wants to stay. Although, Liverpool can offer better financial conditions for the player. Should there be any problems in the dealing between Barcelona and and Gavi’s camp Liverpool can come in.
Gavi’s agent could use this offer from Liverpool to get better terms out of Barcelona. Barcelona would definitely want to retain him and perhaps this might not be the best time to play power tactics.
